Riviera Maya's Natural Attractions
The Riviera Maya offers a rich variety of gorgeous landscapes, unique species of plants and animals, and the most amazing eco-parks in the area. In this region there are two parks that you must visit: Xcaret and Xel-Ha. Both are lots of fun and provide you with the opportunity of admiring the interesting bio-diversity of the area, learning about the Maya culture, diving in the crystal clear waters or swimming in the refreshing underground rivers.
Xcaret Eco Park is located 45 minutes from Cancun, in the Riviera Maya. It is an amazing natural area where you can meet with the Maya culture, learn about the indigenous flora and fauna, swim with bottle-nose dolphins and explore the unique underground rivers, an experience that you will never forget.
Xcaret is also home to an ancient archeological site and an excellent re-creation of an ancient Mayan village. One of the best aquariums in all North America can be found here, allowing visitors to admire, at a very close range, the spectacular coral reef abundant with colorful fish, sponges and fascinating marine life. However, the highlight for many visitors is the "Xcaret Night Show", featuring over 300 artists on stage performing a spectacular traditional Mexican show.
For those who love to be in touch with nature, there is an array of activities for helping endangered species. There's also bee hives, walking tours and the archeological site to explore. While visiting Xel-Ha, you will have the chance to discover the Mangroves, the only trees in the world that live in salt water, their roots immersed in the sacred underworld of caves and rivers...
Xel-Ha is an incredible water park, with the most spectacular natural aquarium and offers many exciting water activities, such as diving or snorkeling in creeks, lagoons, natural wells and ancient underground rivers. Also don't miss out on the opportunity of swimming with a dolphin, surrounded by the wonderful natural environment. Alternatively, just rest and relax on "Hammock Island" and enjoy the stunning 300 yards of gorgeous Caribbean beach.
